DUBOIS – The Dubois City Police Department is investigating two burglaries that occurred in the Fifth Ward area of the city on Jan. 25 and Feb. 17.
On Jan. 25 at approximately 2:30 p.m. the DuBois City Police were dispatched to Love Street for the report of a burglary that had occurred several minutes earlier. Police arrived approximately four minutes after being called and spoke with the resident.
She stated that when she came home she discovered the rear door of her residence was slightly ajar. She then entered the house and heard someone upstairs. A male suspect then yelled, “hello?” and she answered by asking who was there. The male suspect then came downstairs and asked her if she had found his dog. When she asked the man who he was and why he was there, he ran out the back door. She advised officers that several minutes had passed before she decided to call the police. She then checked her house and found a few pieces of jewelry missing from a jewelry box in her bedroom on the second floor.
Officers searched the residence, but did not locate any usable evidence. Shoe impressions from the actor and Davies were observed in the snow near the rear door, however, they were indiscernible and of low quality for casting or comparison. Officers checked the area and spoke with a neighbor who stated that they did not see anything. The items reported missing from her residence included two rings and three necklaces. The suspect in this incident is described as a male with an olive complexion wearing blue jeans and a green hoodie.
On Feb. 17, 2011 at approximately 4:07 p.m. police were dispatched to Patterson Avenue for a report of a burglary that had occurred sometime between 1:30pm and 3:50 p.m. upon arrival officers spoke with the resident, who had already entered the building.
The front door had been damaged, as it if had been kicked or struck with a blunt object, causing damage to the door jam and frame. Officers then entered and searched the interior of the residence. He advised that nothing appeared to be disturbed or out of place. Officers located foot prints in the snow outside of the residence, but they were smeared as if the suspect was running and they were unable to be cast.
The footprints were followed and led into the parking lot of the DRMC administrative building. The parking lot and area around the administrative building was also checked but the prints could no longer be observed, du to snow being melted in this area from the recent warm weather. Footage from DRMC’s surveillance cameras was also reviewed, but the suspect was not observed.
Police were later advised that a prescription bottle of Percocet and a small coin collection were discovered missing from the residence.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the DuBois City Police at 371-2323.
