CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive. Shaw identified the Fugitive as Jenna Jean Grumblatt, age 27, of East Park Avenue, DuBois, Pennsylvania. Grumblatt has two pending cases and was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Aug. 6, 2010.

On March 23, 2006, Officer Steve Maholtz of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint charging Grumblatt with: 1) simple assault, M2; and 2) retail theft, M2.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Maholtz states that on May 15, 2006, the DuBois City Police were dispatched to the Sheetz store on Brady Street for a report of individuals fighting with an employee. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who was a store clerk.

The alleged victim reported that Grumblatt was observed concealing items on her person and then leaving the store without paying for the items. Grumblatt then assaulted the victim, when the victim attempted to detain Grumblatt. The victim recovered a purse that was dropped by Grumblatt. The purse contained Grumblatt’s driver license and various papers with Grumblatt’s name. Grumblatt fled in 1993 Ford Sedan.

A preliminary hearing was held on April 21, 2006, at which time the charges were held for court. On May 17, 2006, Grumblatt failed to appear for arraignment court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

In a separate case, Officer Mark Brooks of the Lawrence Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint charging Grumblatt with: 1) forgery, F2, 4 counts; 2) theft by deception, M1, 4 counts; 3) bad checks, M3, 4 counts; and 4) receiving stolen property, M3, 4 counts.

An affidavit of probable Cause filed by Brooks states that in March 2006, the Lawrence Township Police received a complaint of forgery and theft from a Grampian resident. Upon investigation, Police learned that Grumblatt had signed and cashed four of the alleged victim’s checks without the alleged victim’s authorization. As a result of cashing the checks, Grumblatt improperly received approximately $1,135.00.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled on May 24, 2006, and Grumblatt failed to appear and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office provided that Grumblatt was located in the Seattle, Washington area. On February 12, 2011, Deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Grumblatt, and she was taken into custody. Grumblatt is currently housed in the King County Jail pending extradition to Clearfield County.

Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office and the King County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case. Shaw also acknowledged that Grumblatt was located as the direct result of citizens willing to provide information to law enforcement.
