PORT MATILDA – A 38-year-old Port Matilda man will face charges following a two-hour standoff with police at his residence that initiated at 11:30 p.m. Friday and concluded at 3 a.m. Saturday in Halfmoon Township, Centre County.
The Philipsburg-based state police identified the man as Donald Leroy Shouey Jr., 38, of Port Matilda. He’s been charged with terroristic threats, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
According to the incident report, Shouey was “distraught” and threatened to shoot himself and others who occupied his residence. The other occupants, a female and three juveniles, were able to flee the residence, police said.
When police arrived at the scene, Shouey immediately refused to surrender. Negotiations then ensued and continued for two hours at which time Shouey surrendered, police said. Once in police custody, Shouey became combative with officers.
Shouey was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Leslie Dutchcot and placed in the Centre County Prison in lieu of $1 million bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23.
