Steven M. Johnston, 52, of DuBois died Thursday at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Born on May 29, 1958 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Russell Hand and Linda (Johnston) Hand, whom both survive in DuBois.
Mr. Johnston was a driller for Hand Drilling for 30 years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan and Pittsburgh Penguin Fan. He loved NASCAR and enjoyed golfing. He played Federation League Baseball in the area for many years.
On May 6, 1988, he married Carolyn (Whitcomb) Johnston, whom survives.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is survived by three children, Steven M. Johnston Jr. of Pittsburgh; Barrett L. Johnston of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Fayette J. Johnston of DuBois; three brothers, Raymond Hand of DuBois; Edward Hand of Emporium; and Jamie “Joe” Hand of DuBois; one sister, Lori Undercoffer of Weedville; and one grandchild.
Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Hand III.
Friends will be received from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow with the Rev. Joel Simbeck officiating.
