CLEARFIELD – Crowds fill the Clearfield County Driving Park for this year’s Groundhog Trail Wine Festival.

In addition to spreading the word about the Groundhog Trail series of wineries the festival also helps raise money for a group.  This year the Saint Francis School PTO is the beneficiary.

At the festival were several wineries selling various wines, but also other goods; cigars, popcorn, sweets, nuts, art and information on local tourism and vacations elsewhere.

“As attendance grows we will need to look for a bigger spot,” said Kenn Starr.

Starr stated that this year pre-sale tickets were double what they were for last year’s festival.  An hour into the event the Expo I building was already packed tightly enough to often require patrons to squeeze to get from one stand to another.  According to Starr, the larger crowds come out for the evening session of the festival.
