JOHNSONBURG — To say the 2010-2011 basketball season for the Curwensville Golden Tide has been difficult would be an understatement. The team started out practicing with fewer players due to the success of the football team, and started the year slow out of the box.
Despite improvement and glimpses of great things, the Tide have only been able to put three wins on the board. Friday night the team made the long journey to Johnsonburg to take on the Rams, who were hoping to even their record following a loss on Thursday to a strong DuBois Central Catholic team.
At the end of 32 minutes, the Rams did just that.
Johnsonburg evened their record at 9-9 with a 55-30 victory over the Tide, dropping Curwensville to 3-14.
Curwensville has five games left in the season. Four of those games will be next week and the first three come back-to-back from Monday through Wednesday. Luckily for the Tide, they will not have to travel for any of those games as all three will be played at home.
First game of the final home stand for Curwensville comes Monday night as they host the West Branch Warriors, which was postponed earlier this week due to the ice storm. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. with the junior varsity game starting off the action. The varsity will follow approximately an hour and a half later.
