Margaret A. “Margie” Durachko, 89, of Snow Shoe, passed away on Feb. 1, 2011 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg. Born January 28, 1922, in Clarence, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Mocak Parney. On June 19, 1948, in Clarence, she married Martin P. “Whitey’ Durachko, who passed away on Sept. 1, 1997.

Margie attended the Clarence School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence and a member of the Slovak National Society Lodge.

Margie was known for doing exquisite embroidering. She was very light hearted, would much rather give than receive. She was very appreciative of what others did for her. She loved to laugh, tell jokes, and solve crossword puzzles. She liked all people from all walks of life and accepted a person for who they were, not what they were, or what they had to offer. She maintained the Slovak traditions, especially the cooking. She looked forward to spring every year so she could plant her flowers. Once the flowers were planted, she enjoyed sitting on her back porch watching the birds and doing . She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her smile shined through the darkest days. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Margie is survived by three daughters, Penelope J. “Penny” Amick (William) of Lanse, Margaret A. “Peg” Durachko Gottfried (Richard) of Pittsburgh, and Janet M. “Jan” Strosky (Edward) of DuBois and by her two grandchildren, of whom she was very proud, Jeffrey S. Amick of Irwin,  and Valerie J. Amick of Grove City. Also surviving are her three sisters, Ann Desciscio of New York, Betty Murino of New York, and Pauline Charnick of Snow Shoe.

Along with her parents and husband, Margie was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Friends will be received on Feb. 4 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a rosary being said at 7:45 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St, Snow Shoe, PA 16874.  Funeral Mass will be on February 5 at 11 a.m. at the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence with Father Lubomir J. Strecok officiating.
