UNIVERSITY PARK – Alternate viewing locations are available across the University Park campus for those unable to attend President Barack Obama’s Thursday speech in person. Obama is speaking in Rec Hall on the campus during a ticketed event with an expected crowd of 3,000 people.
Those who wish to watch and hear his remarks live can go to auxiliary viewing locations with large screen monitors at South Gym in Rec Hall, the HUB-Robeson Center and Foster Auditorium, 102 Paterno Library. Tickets are not required at these locations.
In addition, the speech will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network beginning at noon Eastern time on Feb. 3. The Big Ten Network is available on campus and in 75 million households across the country. Obama’s talk also will be broadcast online at http://www.whitehouse.gov.
During his visit to Penn State, the president will be addressing the people who will play a direct role in America’s ability to move toward clean, efficient energy. The majority of the audience at this White House event will be faculty and students in the colleges and areas that are heavily involved in energy and the environment. There also will be a large number of corporate partners and those who are part of the new Energy Innovation Hub in the Philadelphia Navy Yard, an effort led by Penn State.
Obama’s talk follows on the heels of his Jan. 25 State-of-the-Union Address in which he urged Americans to invest more in innovation and education to move the country forward in job creation and global competition.
