William “Bill” Husak, 82, of Midland TX and formerly of Curwensville died Monday in Midland, TX.  He was the last member of his generation.

Born Sept. 22, 1928 in Irvona, he was the son of Andrew and Sophie (Stietch) Husak.  He was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Midland, TX.

He was a graduate of the Curwensville Area High School, where he also played football.  He was a United States Army Veteran during World War II, where he served in the 1st Calvary Division. 

Mr. Husak received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Oklahoma. He was employed by Cities Service Oil Company, which later was purchased by Occidental Petroleum. 

He worked all over the United States and retired after 30 years of service. Also, he was a member of the Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War.

Mr. Husak is survived by a friend, Janelle Reeves of Midland, TX.  He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters, Olga, Anne, Mary, John, Michael and Donald Husak. 

A Mass of Divine Liturgy will be said at 1 p.m. Friday at the St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church, Curwensville, with Ftr. Robert Yetsko, T.O.R. as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 12 p.m. until the procession departs for the church at 12:45 p.m. Friday.
