William “Bill” E. Droll Jr., 62, of Woodland died Tuesday at his residence.

Born Dec. 17, 1948 at Philipsburg, he was the son of Edna L. (Smith) Droll, who survives of Philipsburg and the late William E. Droll. He was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church.

In addition, he was a member of the Nittany Lion Booster Club and an avid Penn State Football fan. He enjoyed fishing and loved travelling with his wife.  He was very close to his family.

Mr. Droll attended the Philipsburg-Osceola High School.

He was the owner and operator of Metzler Forest Products, Woodland. He was also an owner and operator of Wallace Transport and was a truck driver for Kephart Trucking.

He married Kathy L. (Jones) Droll, who survives at home, on Feb. 3, 1968 in West Decatur. They would have celebrated 43 years of marriage this year.

Mr. Droll is survived by three children, Tracie Hockenberry and her husband, George of Woodland; William Droll and his wife, Missy, of Bigler; and Jeffery Droll and his fiancé, Effie Marty of Philipsburg.

Surviving are one sister, Shelia Dean and her husband Robert of Philipsburg and one mother-in-law, Jean Leach of Philipsburg; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Harry and his wife Rosanne Jones of West Decatur; Merrill and his wife, Phyllis Greene of Bigler; and Harold Heeman    of North Carolina.

He’s also survived by eight grandchildren, Ashlee Knepp and her fiancé, Dustin Welder; Alan Johnson, Rona Knepp, Amber Hockenberry, Zachary Droll, Brandon Droll, Jaret Droll and Cheyenne Droll; three great-grandchildren, Jailynne Welder, Natalie Welder and Mea Goho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law, Ralph Leach.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Rodger Gorton officiating. Burial will be at Bigler Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
