Obituary Notice: Francis Ireland

Francis Ireland, 82, formerly of Croft, died on Monday at Ridgeview Elder Care Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.

Born on May 20, 1928 in Madera, he was the son of the late A.T. and Mabel K. (Peters) Ireland.

Mr. Ireland retired from the Lady Jane Colliers Coal Co., Penfield, where he was employed as a deep mine coal miner. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict.

He is survived by two sons, Daniel L. Ireland of Morrisdale and David L. Ireland and his wife, Donna of Philipsburg and three grandchildren, Amanda, Aaron and Alicia Ireland.

Also surviving are a sister and two brothers, Thelma Scheon of Texas; John Ireland and his wife, Nancy Ann of Ohio; and Clair Ireland and his wife Ruth Ann of Curwensville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther M. (Smeal) Ireland on April 25, 1995 and whom he married May 23, 1953 in Clearfield and one sister and one brother, Pauline Smith and Clifford Ireland.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with the Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in the Eden Cemetery, Shawville.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and the Clearfield VFW Posts’ honor guard.

Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Ridgeview Elder Care Rehabilitation Center, 30 Fourth Ave., Curwensville, PA 16833.
