Police responded to a single-vehicle accident Friday on state Route 550 in Halfmoon Township. A vehicle operated by Richard L. Horner, 62, of Port Matilda was traveling over a crest in the roadway and then negotiated a downhill sweeping curve, when he lost control of the vehicle. His vehicle then traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole. Horner received a minor injury to his right wrist. His vehicle was severely damaged and towed from the scene by Halfmoon Towing. Police remind motorists that when traveling in windy winter conditions, snow may be blown across the roadways in certain locations, causing sudden slippery conditions.
