Helen R. McElfresh, 66, of Clearfield died on Thursday at her home.
Born on April 9, 1944, in Fairmount, WV, she was the daughter of William Earl and Vada Belle (Rice) Michael. She was of Protestant by faith.
She was a 1962 graduate of Keyser High School in Keyser, WV. She would later graduate from Alderson Broaddus College School of Nursing. In April 2010, she retired from the Clearfield Hospital Home Health after 28 years of service.
Ms. McElfresh was a member of the Clearfield Hospital Alumni Association and the Pennsylvania Nursing Association.
Her work and career were very important to her. She also enjoyed reading, shopping and sports, but most importantly, she was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Douglas S. McElfresh of Butler and Amanda S. Nash and her husband, Josh of Burlington, WV; two grandchildren, Lindsey Madison Nash and Thomas Michael Nash; and one brother, Melvin W. Michael and his wife, Sheila of Andover, OH.
Ms. McElfresh is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Michael Lynn McElfresh.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield. Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Monday and from 1 p.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
