Beginning Feb. 13 and continuing through March 13, you will have the opportunity to bring your pet in and have their picture taken by a professional photographer. For only $10 you will receive an 8 x 10 picture of your pet and a smaller picture attached to a donation can. Using the donation can to solicit votes, you can “Make Your Pet A Star”.
If your pet is one of the 12 pets receiving the most votes, they will be featured on a month of the 2012 SPCA Pet Calendar. The next 12 pets will be featured on the honorable mention page. All pets entered in the contest will be included in a collage, which makes up the front and back cover of the calendar
If you and your pet participated in the calendar contest in the past and you have lost your pet since that time, please contact the SPCA. They also honor deceased participants on a memorial page in the calendar.
Please bring your pet and join the fun. Cats are very under-represented so they are hoping to see a lot more cats this year. Their professional photographers do a great job and are able to get a beautiful picture even with the most skittish or shy pet. Everyone loves their pets and wants to show them off to the world. This gives us an opportunity to do just that and also to help raise money to help those animals not as fortunate. The calendar contest is the major fund-raising event for the SPCA. The funds raised from the contest and calendar sales allow us to keep the doors of the shelter open.
“Last year’s contest was hugely successful but we can do even better with your help. Let’s see if we can set a new record,” said Tracy Gibson.
