Obituary Notice: Marian A. Peters

Marian Alida Peters, 98, of Clearfield died on January 17, 2011 at Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield.

She was born on April 12, 1912 in Venango, a daughter of the late Lee Macartney and Golda (French) Taylor.

Mrs. Peters and her husband served various churches in the Washington Valley, Potter County areas and Kane.  They were also custodians of the Mahaffey Camp from 1947-1976 and the North Hills Church, Pittsburgh until 1982. 

She taught piano until the age of 90.  Mrs. Peters attended Cambridge Springs Area High School and then studied at Houghton College, Houghton, NY as a piano major.

She attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Clearfield.

She is survived by four children, Ruth Anthony and husband John of Plumville, Lee Peters and wife Patricia of Chattanooga, TN, David Peters and wife Joy of Dover, DE, John Peters and wife Gale of Clearfield; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; a sister in law, Doris Peters of      Cambridge Springs and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edward Isaac Peters on Dec. 3, 1981 and whom she married July 29, 1935, a sister and brother Ruth Thomas and Harry Taylor, and a sister in law Thelma Peters Baltz.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Clearfield on Friday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Duane A. White officiating.  Interment will be in the Cambridge Springs Cemetery, Cambridge Springs. 

Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 9-11 a.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Missionary and Alliance School, 56 Alliance Road, Clearfield.
