Welteroth Scores 1,000th Career Point as Harmony Defeats Curwensville, 63-39

WESTOVER — The Curwensville Golden Tide basketball team was looking to put on a better performance than their two previous games as they traveled to face the Harmony Owls.  After putting up 42 points in their last two games, the Tide hoped to put a win on their record for the first time since January 4.

Harmony had a different plan, and they executed that plan to perfection.  Harmony trailed in the early moments, 3-0, but soon went on an eight-point run and never looked back as they defeated the Tide, 63-39.

The big story of the night was Harmony senior Erik Welteroth as he was six points short of the 1,000 mark entering the game.  It took less than two quarters for him to get to that milestone, but he wasn’t done there.  Welteroth would end the night with 17 points, one of three Harmony players to make double digits.  Cam Norris led Harmony with 21 points while Tyler Tiesi added another 10.

For Curwensville, three players ended the night with a team-high eight points, Alec Starr, Kyle Barrett and Boone McGary.

Curwensville (2-9) will be on the court again next Wednesday, January 19, as they will host Elk County Catholic.  Tip off for the junior varsity game is set for 6 p.m. with the varsity game to follow.
