Edward David Stonebraker Sr., 76, of Curwensville died Wednesday.

Born on April 23, 1934 in Clearfield, he was the son of the late William and Pearl (Condon) Stonebraker. He was active in many area churches and served as a Sunday school superintendent and choir member. He, too, was a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He was also active in his community.

After 30 years of service, Mr. Stonebraker retried from Thompson and Buck as an appliance repairman. He loved spending time with his family. His hobbies were playing horseshoes, fishing, bowling and gardening.

Mr. Stonebraker wed Nancy Palmer on March 27, 1955 in Niagara Falls, NY, who survives.

He’s also survived by six children, Pam Curry and her husband, Barry; Ed Stonebraker Jr. and his wife, Lynette; Deb Frailey and her husband, Dennis; Bruce Stonebraker and his wife, Cheryl; Diane Zimmerman and her husband, Pete; Sandy Solomon and her husband, Rob; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one sister, Margaret Haney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Wonk.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville, with the Rev. Bruce Stonebraker officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
