STATE COLLEGE – The Board of Directors at The State Theatre announced the appointment of Harry Zimbler as its new executive director.

Newly elected board president Roy Love, DC, spoke on behalf of the organization,  “Following a long and comprehensive search, we are pleased to report that Harry has accepted the position here at The State Theatre.”

For the past three years Zimbler has served as the editor of Pennsylvania Business Central, a business journal serving 16 counties in central Pennsylvania. In that position he was able to develop strong ties to the region’s business and economic development communities.

“The State Theatre is an important member of the Happy Valley community,” Zimbler stated. “Its programs add greatly to the quality of life in the region. I am honored to be selected as its executive director.”

Earlier in his career Zimbler served in a variety of jobs for public television, both at WPSX (now WPSU) and also at the national level. In addition, he was manager of The Penn State School of Theatre’s University Resident Theater Company and Pennsylvania Center Stage.  For twenty years he was theater critic for the Centre Daily Times.

“The State Theatre is the dream and vision of many people in the area. I am dedicated to building upon the work of those individuals whose tenacity and generosity have given this wonderful gift to the region.”

Zimbler noted that The State Theatre is more than a building. “It is a home for the performing arts for local, regional and national groups. It is the perfect complement to what Penn State arts organizations have to offer. The State Theatre is a community of artists and those who care passionately about the arts. Finally, the State Theatre has had, and will continue to have, a positive impact on the economy in the Centre Region.”

The State Theatre is located at 130 West College Avenue.
