Obituary Notice: John Kashella

John Kashella, age 93 of Treasure Lake in DuBois, PA died Jan. 9, 2011 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. 

He was born on April 2, 1917 in Morrisdale, PA to the late Joseph & Mary (Cost) Kashella.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Technician 5th Grade during World War II where he was awarded five Bronze Stars.

He married Ruth Marie (Bottomley) Kashella.  She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 2009. 

He was a machinist at Lee Industries in Philipsburg, PA retiring after over 30 years of service. 

He was a member of the Treasure Lake Church.  He enjoyed gardening and fly fishing.

He is survived by his son, John G. Kashella and his wife, Christine of Annville, PA, his daughter, Denise M. Lukens and her husband, Jeffrey of DuBois, PA, a sister, Elizabeth Lines of Morrisdale, PA, a brother, Peter Kashella of Munson, PA, one grandchild, Joshua Kashella of Annville, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, George, Andrew, Joseph, and Michael Kashella and four sisters, Mary Baronak, Sue Mondock, Helen Kashella and Margaret Spila. 

Visitation will be held on Jan. 13 from 4-8 p.m. from the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.

The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service on Jan. 14 at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held on Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Pastor Richard Whitaker officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home. 

Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, PA.
