CPCA Offering Tax-Time Volunteer Opportunity

CLEARFIELD – Receive free training to become an IRS certified tax preparer – then volunteer a few hours per month to prepare taxes for those unable to afford it.  Central Pennsylvania Community Action sponsors VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) sites, which offer free tax preparation throughout Clearfield County from February to April.  VITA Volunteers work to ensure that eligible families avoid predatory income-tax preparers and costly refund anticipation loans.

CPCA is preparing for its seventh year of free tax preparation.  Last year the VITA program, Clearfield County $Money in Your Pocket served 303 families with filing their income tax returns at no cost.  Providing this service kept over $407,812 in our community.  This money is kept here and spent here!

Clearfield County $Money in Your Pocket is actively searching for volunteers interested in helping individuals and families of Clearfield County with free tax preparation.  Some of the volunteer opportunities that are available include greeters, screeners, intake workers, tax preparers, site coordinators and quality reviewers.

The VITA program will be operating in Curwensville, Philipsburg, Clearfield, DuBois, Falls Creek, and Irvona.  Volunteers can do as much or as little as they choose.  For more information on how you can help, please contact Gail Webster at 1-800-822-2610 or 765-1551 ext. 1109.
