Obituary Notice: Lynn W. Boal

Lynn W. Boal, 97, of Clearfield, passed away on Dec. 30, 2010 at the Clearfield Hospital.

Mr. Boal was born on Feb. 28, 1913 in Clearfield, PA and was the son of Charles and Ella (Cleaver) Boal.

Along with his wife Amelia, he was co-owner/operator of the former Captain’s Table Restaurant and Motel in Clearfield. Mr. Boal was also the first businessman in Clearfield to own and operate an automatic car wash, the Voyager Motel and a large restaurant.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Rotary Club of Clearfield and had served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, where he served as the secretary and treasurer.

He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Clearfield.

Mr. Boal is survived by a daughter, Eleanor Penoyer of Clearfield, four grandchildren: Amy Miceli, Brenda Boal, Jamie Boal and Barbara Winkler, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Amelia P. (Heller) Boal on April 26, 2004 and whom he married on Aug. 18, 1935, a son, Dennis M. Boal on May 5, 1986, a grandson, Lynn Rabik on November 18, 2008. Mr. Boal is also the last member of his generation, having been preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2011 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield with Rev. Mark Brower officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Ja 3, 2011 from 7-9 p.m., Jan. 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 1010 Dorey Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
