Florence G. “Flo” Moore, 85 of Port Matilda, passed away on Dec. 25, 2010 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.
Born Feb. 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lloyd and Edna (Wise) Folmar.
She was a Protestant by faith.
Mrs. Moore began her career with Penn State Food Services in 1959 at the Warnock Dining Commons. She began as a dining hall worker, then took a cook’s position and later moved to Findlay. In 1969 she left Penn State, but returned in 1982 to Redifer Dining Commons as a food service worker and was there until her retirement.
On Aug. 31, 1946 in Winchester, VA, she married Clair L. (Hank) Moore, who passed away on Nov. 12, 1999 after 53 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son in-law John Russell Garbrick Jr.; and brothers Frank, Joseph, Clair, Herbert “Ted” and Norman Folmar.
She is survived by daughters Marilyn L. Garbrick of Bellefonte, Barbara C. Moore of Port Matilda and Peggy M. Paradeau of Bloomington, MN; sisters Phyllis McBath of Oklahoma City, OK and Betty Lou Dixon and her husband Dick of Morrisdale; brothers Harold Folmar and his wife Dottie of San Diego, CA and Don Folmar and his wife Lois of Cassopolis, MI; grandson Brandon Paradeua of Mission Beach, CA and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Bumbarger, nephew of Mrs. Moore, officiating. Burial will be at the Black Oak Cemetery in Port Matilda. Visitation will be held on Dec. 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
