Leonard E. Griffin, 86, of Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg and formerly of Summerville and Port Matilda died Saturday.
Born Sept. 26, 1924 in Zion, he was the son of the late Leonard and Minnie Mae (Parker) Griffin. He was of the Protestant faith.
He retired from the Sanitation Engineering Department of the State College Borough in December 1986. He was a marksman in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Gardner and her husband, Andrew of Bull Head City, AZ; Lenora C. Turner of Mesa, AZ; Rose J. Griffin of Tyrone; and Helen Pauline Rudolph of Williamsport and two sons, Ronald L Griffin and his wife, Barbara of Mesa, AZ and Robert L. Griffin and his wife, Deborah of Port Matilda.
In addition, he is survived by one sister, Catherine Speicher of Colorado; 20 great-grandchildren; 17 grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three wives, Dorothy (Dixon) Griffin, Helen Griffin and Florence Marlene Griffin; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and time, which is to be announced.
