Walter K. Deasey, age 86, of Alida Avenue, in DuBois, PA died Dec. 18, 2010 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1924 in Big Run, PA. He was the son of the late John & Bernice (Frye) Deasey.
He was a veteran in the U.S. Army having served as a sergeant during World War II.
On Oct. 9, 1949, he married Norma “Lee” (Phillips) Deasey. She survives.
He was a mechanic/machinist for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and the Chessie System Railroad for 43 years.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in DuBois, PA for 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, hunting and fishing. He loved railroad memorabilia and railroad history. He loved military history as well. He enjoyed being with his family.
He is survived by a son, Randy J. Deasey and his wife, Tracy of Sykesville-Troutville Road, three brothers, Raymond Deasey and his wife, Effie of Rockton, PA, Donald Deasey and his wife, Thelma of Erie, PA and Jack Deasey and his wife, Karen of DuBois, PA, four sisters, Anne Rohrer of Port St. Lucie, FL, Vivian Miller and her husband, Chet of Port St. Lucie, FL, Jean Valentine of DuBois, PA and Joy Braid and her husband, Fred of Baltimore, MD, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son George W. Deasey and his infant son, Robert K. Deasey.
Visitation will be held on Dec. 21 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service on Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held on Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. from the Goble Baronick Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Lindahl officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
