CLEARFIELD – How many people in our community go hungry at Christmastime each year? Statistics say that on average 500 people in our community will miss at least one meal between Christmas and New Year’s Day because their cupboards are bare. Many of these are senior citizens. This year let’s keep this statistic from becoming a reality.
The Clearfield Sons of the American Legion is pleased to announce that it will again be joining forces with the Clearfield Cycle Club to provide their annual free Christmas Eve dinner.
This year will mark the 14th year that the Clearfield Cycle Club and the Clearfield Sons of the American Legion have been able to provide a Christmas Eve meal to those in need. Last year, with your support, the club was able to serve over 500 meals to individuals in the Clearfield-Curwensville area.
The dinners will be prepared and served at the Clearfield American Legion, located on South Second Street. The club will also be delivering dinners to those who cannot make it to the Legion. Take outs are also available. Although there is no cost for the dinners, they must be reserved by calling the Legion at 765-1152 by 9:00 p.m., Dec. 23.
Dinners will be served or delivered between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 24.
The menu will consist of ham, turkey, and all the trimmings. If you would like to participate with this community service, donations of a ham or turkey can be dropped off at the Clearfield American Legion or monetary donations can be mailed to the Clearfield American Legion, Attention: Christmas Eve Dinner, 210 S. Second St., Clearfield, PA 16830. Checks should be made payable to the SAL Christmas Dinner.
