CLEARFIELD – the holidays upon us, you may still be searching for that perfect gift for the hunter, fisherman, or outdoors person in your family. Well, if this is the case, the 4-H Clubs of Clearfield County can help you find a one-of-a-kind, unique gift to please that hard to shop for person.
The latest edition of the Clearfield County Plat Book is now available at the Clearfield County Cooperative Extension Office, located on the second floor of the Multi-Service Center in Clearfield. The Clearfield County Plat Book contains the public record maps of land, showing the division of the land and indicating the measurements of the individual parcels. The Plat Book contains the records and maps as recorded at the Clearfield County Assessment Office. With its vast amount of county land information, the plat book makes for an excellent gift. The cost of each plat book is $40.00. Plat books can also be purchased at Bob’s Army Navy Store, Clearfield Agway, the Clearfield County Assessment & Tax Claims Office, Curwensville Feed Store, and Wayland Farm Supply/Agway of DuBois.
The Clearfield County 4-H Program adopted the Clearfield County Plat Book a several years ago as the 4-H Program’s main fundraiser. All the money collected from the sale of these books goes towards funding programs offered through the Clearfield County 4-H Program, as well as building the Clearfield County 4-H Endowment Fund, which will ensure the 4-H program is continues to grow well into the future. Over 200 youth belong to one of eighteen 4-H clubs located throughout the Clearfield County. With the help of this fundraiser, 4-H members are given the opportunity to participate in many county, regional, and state program. The plat book fundraiser covers many of the costs associated with these events.
The ultimate goal of the 4-H program is to help youth become self-directed, productive, and contributing members of a diverse society. 4-H helps teach youth important life skills and lives by the motto “To Make the Best Better” and the slogan “Learn by Doing.” While in 4-H, youth have the opportunity to participate in wide variety of contests, activities, and complete books in their project areas, including the topics of horse, livestock, dogs, cats, forestry, sewing, woodworking, bicycling, shooting sports, babysitting, embryology, gardening, photography, and community service.
4-H is a non-formal youth development educational program of Penn State Cooperative Extension for all youth between the ages of 8 and 19, regardless of age, ancestry, color, disability or handicap, national origin, religious creed, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
