Police Investigating Incident in Which Man Claimed to Be CYFS Worker

(GantDaily Graphic)

DUBOIS – The DuBois City Police are investigating an incident involving a suspicious man that occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Maple Avenue.

A man claiming to be with Children, Youth and Family Services showed up at a residence on Maple Avenue on Thursday at approximately 5:00 p.m. and stated that he had been contacted by the school district and was there to take the children.  The man never presented any identifying credentials or a badge.

The homeowners began questioning the man and eventually shut the door in his face. The homeowners stated they remembered the man from a similar incident that occurred sometime in July in which the man had showed up at the residence and presented a badge to the homeowners’ young daughter. Again, when questioned the male left.

In both incidents, the male left the area on foot and no vehicle was present. Footprints were observed in the snow leading up to the side of the house and it appeared as if someone had been standing in front of the dining room window.

The man is described as being a white male in his fifties, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall, slim build, short grayish hair, mustache, wearing a blue trench coat and blue ball cap.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the DuBois City Police at 814-371-2323.
