– Police reported an incident of simple assault and unlawful restraint that occurred sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday that occurred at a Church Street residence in Port Matilda Borough and on United State Route 322 in Worth and Rush Townships, Centre County. A 26-year-old Port Matilda man engaged in a verbal argument with a 26-year-old female at his residence.
The victim then left his residence in her vehicle, traveling westbound on USR 322 while the man reportedly followed her in a separate vehicle. The victim eluded the man who returned to his residence. A short time later, the woman returned to look for her purse.
When the victim attempted to leave, the man allegedly restrained her from doing so. She was able to open the door in attempt to leave, but the man allegedly slammed her arm in the door, which resulted in injury to the victim.
At some point, the woman was able to get to her vehicle. She contacted police at that time. The man was taken into custody and charged with unlawful restraint, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment and reckless driving. He was subsequently taken to the Centre County Booking Center and is currently awaiting arraignment.
– Police reported an incident of driving under the influence at approximately 1:57 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Presqueisle and Front Streets in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. A 25-year-old Philipsburg woman was reportedly observed traveling at the aforementioned location, where she failed to stop her vehicle at a blinking, red traffic light.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop and reportedly found the woman under the influence of alcohol. She was taken into custody for DUI and transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a blood draw. Formal charges for DUI and several summary violations are pending blood test results.
