UNION TOWNSHIP – A fatal accident claimed the life of a 54-year-old DuBois man at 11:50 p.m. Friday on Interstate 80 westbound at mile marker 104.8 in Union Township, Clearfield County.

The DuBois State Police identified the man as Jeffery Fenton, 54, of DuBois. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Fenton was a retired trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, serving most recently at the Clearfield barracks.

According to the accident report, Jared Zimmerman, 30, of Bellefonte was traveling westbound on I-80 in his tractor-trailer. Fenton’s 2009 Ford F150 was pulled off on the north berm. He had exited his truck for unknown reasons, police said.

Police said that Zimmerman neither saw Fenton nor his truck. His tractor-trailer traveled over the white fog line, striking both Fenton and his truck.
