DOA Invites Senior Center Members to Create, Donate Ornaments for Capitol Christmas Tree

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is asking members of senior centers across the state to continue a tradition and create one-of-a-kind, handmade ornaments for the Capitol Christmas tree.

“Many of us look forward each year to seeing the creative ornaments that older adults contribute for the tree,” said Secretary of Aging John Michael Hall. “The ornaments are created with such good will and joy that they light up the tree in their own special way. We are fortunate to have such talented and generous older Pennsylvanians who donate these unique decorations each year.”

The tree will be displayed in the main Rotunda from Dec. 1 to early January.

Senior centers are invited to send sturdy, hand-made festive tree decorations. Ornaments will not be returned and should be sent by Nov. 22 to the following address:

Pennsylvania has over 600 senior centers where more than 200,000 older citizens go for nutritious lunches, interesting programs and social interaction with others.
