CLEARFIELD – The Garden Group of the Clearfield Center for Active Living is an active collection of like-minded individuals with a passion for gardening and related issues.
Members and area residents are invited to attend informative meetings about gardening and associated subjects. The buzz next week will be about bees in the garden and starting a new hive.
Everyone knows the important roll bees play in the pollination of the garden. Lately news reports have stated declines in many bee colonies caused from dangers such as viruses, mites and fungus.
Come to the gathering and learn how to start and keep a healthy bee population. On Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m., John Hallam will speak on beekeeping. Hallam is a member of the Centre County Beekeepers, and has been an active beekeeper for 30 years.
The meeting will be held at the Clearfield Campus of Lock Haven University in room A123 in the new academic building on campus. The University is located at 201 University Drive along United States Route 322 West outside of Clearfield.
Questions or additional topics of interest requests may be directed to the Clearfield Center for Active Living at 765-9319 or 800-225-8571. There are no reservations needed for the Garden Group forum, and the public is encouraged to attend.
