Margaret “Marge” Petruzzi, 81, of Clearfield died on Oct. 10, 2010 at the Clearfield Hospital.

Mrs. Petruzzi was born on July 7, 1929 in DuBois, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Laukitis.

Marge graduated from DuBois High School. She retired from Clearfield Area High School as Cafeteria Supervisor in 1994. Upon retirement, Marge served as a cafeteria volunteer at St. Francis School in Clearfield for several years.

She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.

Mrs. Petruzzi is survived by her husband of nearly sixty years, John V. Petruzzi, whom she married on November 12, 1951 in DuBois, PA: a daughter, Sharon Brucker and her husband Bob of Bradenton, Florida; a sister, Julia Russell of Columbus, OH; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, godchildren and dear friends.

Marge never met a stranger and her laugh was infectious. She enjoyed tending to her rose garden, playing bingo and creating special memories with her loved ones. She celebrated her 80th birthday in 2009 with a surprise party surrounded by her entire extended family.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the compassionate staff members at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield Hospital, and Hospice. Thank you for treating our beloved Marge like a member of your own family. Special thanks goes to Peggy Erskine, Margie’s loving caretaker and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Laukitis and two sisters, Josephine Carcella and Helen Dixon, two brothers-in-law, James Russell, and Charles Dixon, a nephew Frances Russell.

Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield for visitation on Oct. 13 from 5-7 p.m. At the request of Marge, there will be no public viewing.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Oct. 14th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church of Clearfield. Celebrant will be the Rev. Father John Chaplin.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Orphans of the Storm, 412 Hill Street Curwensville, PA 16833, an animal rescue organization very special to Marge.
