More Lane Closures Expected on Atherton Street Through October

Drainage pipe review gets started Monday

CLEARFIELD – Lane restrictions will be in place through October on Atherton Street, as drainage pipe review work begins on Monday, Oct. 11.

Motorists who are travelling on Route 3014 (Atherton Street) in State College, will encounter temporary lane closures from Valley Vista Drive to Villa Crest Drive.

Closures will primarily be in the outside lanes, eastbound and westbound. Daily work hours are set for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. These lane closures are separate from the lane closures announced for Oct. 11 and 13 between College Avenue and Beaver Avenue.

These latest lane restrictions are necessary so that crews can inspect inlets and video tape the highway drainage system along Atherton. The drainage-pipe review runs along a seven-mile stretch of Atherton Street in Patton, Ferguson and College townships and State College Borough.

This review is part of preliminary work to identify areas in need of repair or replacement. The drainage system review and lane closures are expected to be in place through October.

Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits and always buckle up. PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions before heading out.
