CLEARFIELD – Diagnosis and treatment of pediatric asthma will be improved at the Clearfield Center for Children’s Care of Clearfield Hospital thanks to a new partnership with Brady’s Smile Inc.
A grant of $10,000 will be used to acquire equipment to perform lung function tests, also known as spirometry test.
“The use of spirometry at the point of care within the ambulatory setting will enable us to maximize our management of pediatric asthma, thereby enriching the lives of our pediatric patients and their families, and averting unnecessary hospitalization. Through the generosity of Brady’s Smile Inc., we will be able to provide this high level of service to our community,” stated Gregory S. Sheffo, M.D., chief medical officer and a pediatrician at the clinic.
He continued, “It’s a privilege to be a part of the Brady’s Smile Inc. mission, and we greatly appreciate the confidence and trust they have placed in our medical skills and quality patient care services.”
Brady’s Smile is a 501 (c) (3) children’s charity, founded by Matt and Annie (Flegal) Hinton in memory of their son Brady, and focuses on making life easier for children in the ICU and their families.
Clearfield Hospital is now one of only four Brady’s Smile hospitals in Pennsylvania, representing Brady’s Smile alongside Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Regarding Brady’s Smile’s support of Clearfield Hospital, Annie Hinton said, “Matt and I are thrilled to announce that Clearfield Hospital is Brady’s Smile’s 14th hospital partnership across seven states. For me, this is a very exciting moment, as Clearfield was and always will be my home and I am so honored to be able to give back to this amazing community in such a special way.”
She added, “Brady’s Smile will be able to touch the lives of local children for years and years to come through the funding of the pediatric asthma program. Brady, in his short life, was cared for several times at Clearfield Hospital, and it was only through the coordination of care at the Children’s Center at Clearfield Hospital that we were able to bring him home to Clearfield for visits due to his unstable health. We have seen first-hand the excellent care Clearfield Hospital gives to their pediatric patients and we are excited to work with the hospital to accomplish the goal of bringing a pediatric spirometry program to the community.”
Brady’s Smile Inc. is holding its third annual “Color the Night” fund-raiser in Clearfield on Oct. 23, and invites all of its supporters to join them on this special night.
A $20 admission fee ($25 for VIP, which includes a special VIP only raffle and event t-shirt) provides attendees with a night of food, catered by Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub, drink (wine and beer until midnight), dancing, raffles and silent auctions.
Proceeds raised during the event will directly fund the Pediatric Spirometry Program at Clearfield Hospital.
