DUBOIS — The Lady Tide volleyball team had the tables turned on them when they travelled to DuBois to face the Lady Beavers Thursday.
In the season opener Curwensville beat DuBois in a five-set match; Thursday DuBois beat Curwensville in a five-set match. The scores were 25-16, 22-25, 13-25, 25-22, 11-15.
Lady Tide head coach Sandy Bailor commented on the match between two equally talented squads, “We can’t give an opponent like DuBois 20 points on our service errors; you are not going to win the match. We had some trouble on serve receive, but credit to our setters Madison (Peterman) and Audrey (Thomas) – they got to the balls and were able to set Taylor (Thornhill) and Rachel (Michaels) up. We dominated at the net, but it doesn’t help when you are handing your oppenents points; we need to clean up our serving and get back to passing the ball like we know how. It doesn’t get any easier traveling to St Mary’s on Monday.”
Curwensville stat leaders:
Taylor Thornhill – 16 kills and 9 blocks; Rachel Michaels – 15 kills and 5 blocks; Ricki Wells – 25 digs; Savannah Strickland – 19 digs and 7 service points; Hannah Bressler – 22 digs; Audrey Thomas – 16 assists; Madison Peterman – 15 Assists
The Lady Tide (8-3) will travel to St. Mary’s on Monday.
The junior varsity lost two games to one by the scores of 30-28, 16-25, and 2-15.
