Obituary Notice: Shelda J. Tormey

Shelda J. Tormey, age 72, of Philipsburg passed away on Monday, October 4, 2010 at her residence.

Born January 23, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Alfred A. Peterson and Lillian Peterson Chambers.

She was a graduate of the H.W.B. High School Houtzdale and retired from the U.S. Post Office in Osceola Mills.

She was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the Columbia Fire Company, President of the Philipsburg Towers Social Club, a member of the Columbia Fire Company, Central District Fireman’s Association and the Sunshine Quilters of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Jackson and her husband Donald of RD Philipsburg and Brenda H. Huber and her husband Steve of Philipsburg; two sons, Walter E. Tormey, Jr. of Houtzdale and CMSgt Ralph W. Morney, of Aiea, Hawaii; a sister, Nancy Marshall and her husband Clifford Marshall, Jr. of Roanoke, VA; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers A. Leslie Peterson and Robert W. Peterson.

A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church with the Pastor Jennifer C. Heikes officiating.  There will be no public visitation.

The Heath Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
