Herbert “Herb” W. Jury, Jr., 87, of Clearfield, PA passed away Sept. 26, 2010 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born Aug. 22, 1923 in Clearfield, he was the son of Herbert W. Jury, Sr. and Olga (Whaple) Jury.
Mr. Jury retired in July 1993 from the Clearfield Area School District, where he was employed in the maintenance department. He was also employed as a school bus driver. He was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War.
Mr. Jury is survived by a daughter, Janet L. Jury of Clearfield; two grandchildren, Josh Black of Burke, VA and Ali Bruton of Pottstown, PA; three great-grandchildren, Jarred Black, Tyler Bruton and Madeline Bruton; one step-great-grandchild, Bradley Weyand.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife, Madeline E. (Carns) Jury, whom he married on March 18, 1950, and who passed away Jan. 18, 1998.
Funeral services will be held on Sept. 30 at 11 o’clock a.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 East Locust St., Clearfield, PA with the Rev. Dr. Robert Ludrowski and the Rev. Jim Gillam co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sept. 29 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Curwensville United Methodist Church-Stained Glass Restoration Fund, 602 State Street, Curwensville, PA 16833.
