Eleanor M. Gill, 89, of Glen Richey, PA, passed away on Sept. 21, 2010 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born on March 19, 1921 in Olanta, PA, she was the daughter of Paul and Jennie (Snyder) Mays.
Mrs. Gill had worked locally for families, cleaning and cooking. During WWII she went to Buffalo and had various war related jobs. She came home after the war and kept books for her brothers’ mining company. After she married, she held various jobs. The family relocated to Glen Richey and she went to work at Kent Sportswear in 1967 and retired in 1983.
She was a member of the Glen Richey Presbyterian Church and served as elder, sunday school teacher and participated in the Presbyterian Womens Club.
Mrs. Gill was a member of the Glen Richey Fireman’s Auxillary and D.A.R. She was an avid quilter and sewer, enjoyed baking pies, bowling, playing the piano, working cross word puzzles, hunting, fishing and was proud of her violets.
She is survived by three children: Jackie Trifelli and her husband Gino of Curwensville, PA., Judy Nelson and her husband David of Clearfield, and Beverly Wilson and her husband Dr. J. Edward of Harrisburg, five grandchildren: Stephanie Trifelli Schlude and her husband Michael, Christina Trifelli McGill and her husband Jared, Benjamin Nelson, Katharine Nelson Pagani and her husband David and Sarah Nelson, three great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gill was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward S. Gill, Jr., whom she married on June 19, 1947 in Fredericksburg, MD and who passed away Oct. 5, 2006; five brothers; Leonard, Lee, Les, Lloyd and Lawrence “Bruce” Mays and three sisters; Lula Witherow, Leta Tubbs and Coralee Mays.
Funeral services will be held on Sept. 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield, PA with Pastor Leanne M. Gill Peters officiating. Interment will be in the Thompson Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sept. 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
