WOMEN’S SOCCER
NEW WILMINGTON – Danielle Struble of Curwensville scored three goals and assisted on another to lead Westminster (4-2) to a 6-0 win over host Point Park at Founders Field in Cheswick Sept. 14.
The senior forward began her hat trick with an 18-yarder for the game-winner just 6:12 after the opening kickoff.
That was the lone goal of the first half, but the Lady Titans made it a runaway after intermission as Struble got the assist on Sarah Nee’s score 32 seconds into the second period and then booted her second goal in the 53rd minute.
Struble’s third goal made it 4-0 in the 86th minute.
The tables were turned on the Lady Lions Saturday as they were blanked 1-0 by Penn State-Behrend at Erie.
Struble had three shots to take the team lead with 26.
She is second in goals (4) and points (10).

LOCK HAVEN – Senior midfielder Jennifer Williams of Clearfield scored hir first two goals of the season in Lock Haven’s 5-0 win over Molloy (N.J.) in Hubert Jack Stadium Sept. 14.
She converted a long ball from Bree Orth into the Lady Eagles’ third goal at the 43:52 mark and drilled a 20-yarder into the upper corner of the far post for the final goal in the 62nd minute.
Lock Haven (3-3) fell to 1-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference losses at East Stroudsburg 3-1 Friday and Bloomsburg 2-0 Saturday night.
Williams has four starts in her six appearance. Three of her five shots have been on goal.

EAST STROUDSBURG – Juliana Howell of Clearfield assisted on Karen Mullins’ insurance goal in Slippery Rock’s 2-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory over East Stroudsburg Saturday.
The Rock was coming off a 2-1 PSAC setback at Bloomsburg on Saturday and now is 2-2 in the conference and 4-2 overall.
Howell also had a shot on goal against East Stroudsburg.
The senior forward is tied for the team lead in assists with three and has five shots, including three on goal, in five games.

DUBOIS – Sophomore midfielder Jilissa Keller of Grampian got her fifth start for Penn State-DuBois (2-3) in a 9-1 non-conference loss to Bethany (W.Va.) at the Spider Lake Compex Sept. 14.
She has one assist and one shot for the Lady Lions, whose game against Penn College at Williamsport Saturday was cancelled.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freshman attacker Brooke Mohney of Clearfield played in her second game for St. Francis (6-2-1) Sunday as the Red Flash blanked host Howard 2-0 for its fourth consecutive win.

FOOTBALL
CLARION – Clarion (0-3) senior strong safety Nick Sipes of Curwensville was in on a game-high 13 stops against Shippensburg Saturday night, but the Golden Eagles dropped the see-saw non-conference battle 28-24 before a Memorial Stadium crowd of 3,000.
Sipes had seven solo tackles, including three for losses totaling eight yards.
His 13 solo tackles and 16 assists top the Clarion defense, and his 9.7 average is tied for fourth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and tied for 32nd in NCAA Division III.

WOOSTER, Ohio – Sophomore right cornerback David Kalgren of Curwensville had three solo tackles and was involved in two other stops for the Oberlin (1-1) defense that kept the Yeomen in Saturday’s non-conference game for three quarters.
The Fighting Scots then pulled away to a 31-14 win the North Coast Athletic Conference opener that attracted 3,650 fans to John J. Papp Stadium.
Kalgren also returned one punt for 25 yards.
He is Oberlin’s third leading tackler with 13 total stops, which have him ranked fifth among defensive backs in the NCAC.
He also has one interception and one kickoff return for 18 yards.

LOCK HAVEN – Redshirt freshman Jesse Hoover of Curwensville started at wide receiver but did not have any catches for Lock Haven (0-3) in its non-conference home opener Saturday night.
A crowd of 1,507 saw unbeaten Kutztown invade Hubert Jack Stadium and overcome a 13-0 deficit to ground the Bald Eagles 38-13.
Hoover has four receptions, one for a touchdown, for 53 yards and a team-high 13.2-yard average.

NEW WILMINGTON – Senior Tyler Kirkwood of Frenchville started at wingback again Saturday as Grove City (2-1) opened its Presidents’ Athletic Conference slate with a 31-16 victory over Westminster in front of 2,154 fans at Harold Burry Stadium.
The Clearfield Area High School graduate continues to be utilized primarily as a blocker for the Wolverines, who celebrated their first road win over the Titans since 1961.
Kirkwood has one pass reception for nine yards.

COLLEGEVILLE – Sophomore defensive back Isiah Morgan of Clearfield made one tackle for Juniata (0-3) in a 41-0 Centennial Conference road loss to undefeated Ursinus before a crowd of 2,987 at Patterson Field Saturday afternoon.
He has started two games and has made two solo stops for the Eagles.

MEN’S SOCCER
ALTOONA – Freshman midfielder Kurtis Graham of Clearfield came off the bench as Penn State-Altoona (3-4) defeated Waynesburg 3-0 in the first game on their new turf at Spring Run Stadium last Thursday night and lost 6-1 to No. 2-ranked Christopher Newport at Newport News Saturday evening.
Graham has one assist in the Lions’ seven games. He has started twice.

WASHINGTON – John Lhota of Clearfield continues to get his chances for Washington & Jefferson (3-1-1), but the senior midfielder is finding opposing goalies up to the task and still is looking for his first goal of the season.
Lhota logged nine shots last week as the Presidents eked out 1-0 wins over Pitt-Greensburg Monday and Frostburg (W.Va.) State Saturday in Alexandra Stadium and salvaged 1-1 tie in double overtime at Marietta (Ohio) Wednesday.
Six of those shots were on goal, including four against Frostburg.
Lhota has started every game and leads the Presidents in shots with 13. He has one assist.

NEW WILMINGTON – Senior midfielder Alan Baldwin of Olanta saw action in a reserve role for Westminster (1-4-2) in road losses to Point Park 3-0 at Pittsburgh Sept. 14 and Penn State-Behrend 2-0 at Erie Saturday.
The Clearfield Area High School grad has registered two shots in six games.
