Fair Queen and Court to Honor Vietnam Veterans at Ceremony at Janesville VFW

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 Houtzdale, said that the 2010 Clearfield County Fair Queen and her court will welcome and honor area Vietnam Veterans at a ceremony to be held at 5 p.m., Oct. 2, at the Janesville VFW.

“The Queen and her court recognize the tremendous debt of gratitude owed our Vietnam veterans,” Rep. George said. “I am bursting with pride that they are joining the recognition ceremony.” 

Sept. 17 is the registration deadline for the Oct. 2 ceremony at the Stephen Kandrach Post 6321, 291 Veterans St., in Smithmill. The ceremony will include medal presentations, tributes and dinner.

Local Vietnam War veterans, their friends and relatives may pick up registration forms at Rep. George’s district office, 275 Spring St., Houtzdale, or by calling the Harrisburg office toll free at 866 354-0890. Needed are the veteran’s name, rank, and branch of service, time of service, as well as addresses and phone numbers.

Family members may accept an award on behalf of a Vietnam War veteran of the 74th Legislative District, which encompasses all of Clearfield County except for DuBois, Troutville and Brady, Huston, Sandy and Union townships.

The 2010 Clearfield County Fair Queen and her court include Halee Kephart of Curwensville, Katherine Dixon of Houtzdale, Melanie Swartz of Ginter, and Elizabeth Berlin and Yvonne Bush, both of DuBois.
