CLEARFIELD – One planned drug store is out in Clearfield Borough, while an exising drug store is looking to change locations.

At Thursday night’s Clearfield Borough Council meeting, Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack announced that CVS has purchased the building and site plans Rite Aid was going to use. The Rite Aid project was first announced a little over two years ago.

Rite Aid was slated for construction across from Clearfield Bank and Trust on River Road, adjacent to the current CVS Pharmacy building. The layout will be similar with the Rite Aid plan, with only a few minor changes.

Council member Trish Kavelak questioned what the traffic patterns may be like once the project is completed. Mack and borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott informed her that the light at the bottom of Brewery Hill will become a true stop light for traffic coming down the hill. Kavelak was also concerned with traffic on Bridge Street. She brought up how, when traffic is backed up, vehicles will pass cars going straight to get into the passing lanes. She said in passing the backed up vehicles, drivers partially cross into the other lane of travel. Stott indicated that traffic issues would be looked at in a traffic study.

Stott also said that if the project continues on the pace it’s on, a sidewalk should be in place on the outside of the property by the end of the month.

“They’re very aggressive on the start-up time,” said Mack.
