CLEARFIELD – It’s been roughly three years since the Clearfield Borough Police Department had an assistant chief. On Thursday night Clearfield Borough Council took the first step in filling that vacant seat.

The topic was brought up by Council member Fred Wisor in the form of a motion. He moved that council start the procedure to appoint an assistant chief. The motion was seconded by Wade Cowder and carried unanimously.

One of the reasons it took this long, according to Clearfield Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott, was because the borough needed to get updated with the Civil Service Commission.

Wisor said he hoped to fill the position with someone from within the CBPD, and that it will take the right person to fill the job.

“We’ve been without an assistant chief since Joe Zelenky retired,” said Fred Wisor. “It’s a long time in coming.”
