South Dakota Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident in Knox Township

KNOX TOWNSHIP – A South Dakota man lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Monday in Knox Township.

According to the state police in Clearfield, John D. Rodriguez, 43 of Sioux Falls, SD, was traveling north on state Route 453. He lost control of his 1991 Harley Davidson and traveled into the south berm. His bike struck a large tree with its front end then traveled about 50 more feet before coming to rest in the middle of SR 453, facing south. Rodriguez was thrown from the bike and came to rest about 33 feet east of the impact with the tree.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet. Police said he suffered blunt force trauma to the head.

Police were assisted at the scene by Madera and Curwensville Fire Companies.
