University Park, Pa. — Penn State’s final non-conference game of the season, against Temple on Sept. 25, will kick at 3:30 p.m. in Beaver Stadium. The Big Ten Network will nationally televise the contest between the intrastate rivals.
The contest is the Nittany Lions’ seventh announced start time for this season and the second on the Big Ten Network. This Saturday’s contest with Kent State will kick at noon and air on ESPN2, the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.
Penn State and Temple have 38 times and are in the midst of playing over seven consecutive years. The Nittany Lions lead the series, 34-3-1. Under head coach Al Golden, a former Penn State co-captain, Temple is 2-0 for the first time since 1981 on the heels of last year’s 9-4 record and Eagle Bank Bowl appearance. The Owls host Connecticut on Saturday.
The Big Ten Network televised Penn State’s season opener with Youngstown State and will carry at least one, if not multiple Nittany Lion conference games this season, which will be announced as six or 12-day selections.
The Big Ten Network is available in approximately 75 million homes in the United States and Canada on DirecTV, Dish Network, Verizon FiOS, AT&T U-Verse and 300 cable providers, including Atlantic Broadband, Cablevision, CATV Service, Comcast, Kuhn Communications, Nittany Media, RCN, Service Electric, Shen-Heights TV and Time-Warner in Pennsylvania.
Armstrong, Blue Ridge, Adams and MetroCast Cable, though, do not carry the Big Ten Network in Pennsylvania. More than 35,000 Penn State alumni live in the communities served by the four cable providers in Pennsylvania and the Youngstown, Ohio area.
ESPN aired last Saturday’s primetime clash at No. 1 Alabama. In addition to Kent State and Temple, these Nittany Lion kick times are set:
Oct. 2 at Iowa, 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC
Oct. 9 vs. Illinois, noon ET and on Big Ten Network, ESPN or ESPN2.
Oct. 30 vs. Michigan, 8 p.m. ET on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC
Penn State has appeared on TV in 192 of its last 194 games. Future Penn State contests may be selected by the networks under the six and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten Conference.
