CLEARFIELD – On Thursday members of Clearfield Borough Council were informed of possible drainage issues at the tennis courts, and what could be done to fix the problem.
Todd Banks, engineer for Stiffler, McGraw and Associates, informed council that drainage issues at the borough’s tennis courts in the driving park had been brought to his attention. He said one solution to the problem was to include the courts in the sewer project, and add French drains around the courts. He added it was close to work that was already planned on a nearby main line.
Clearfield Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott reminded council members that the borough had spent roughly $10,000 about five years ago on the tennis courts. She said that water is coming up from under the courts. This is causing pooling issues and cracking on the surface.
Members of the public works committee approved recommending the issue to council at the voting meeting next week.
Banks also informed council that digging will begin on the latest round of the borough’s storm sewer project. Greenland will start diggin on Monday, and will have three crews in action. The project has an estimated completion time of six months.
