CLEARFIELD – The Volunteer Center of Clearfield County, 103 North Front St., Clearfield, coordinates and links those whom are interested in volunteering with the opportunities. Volunteers are then matched with agencies and projects according to their skills, interests and available time.
The Volunteer Center is a community service program offered to agencies and volunteers in Clearfield County and is funded by the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc.
There is an opportunity for interested individuals to become a part of a team. In this volunteer position, these volunteers could help people understand the Medicare prescription drug program and other parts of the Medicare program.
APPRISE Telecenter counselors are specially-trained volunteers who answer phone calls on specific days from consumers, needing help and information on Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance and long-term care insurance issues.
APPRISE counselors should be at least 18 years of age and older. They work in three-and-a-half hour shifts on the phones. Volunteers receive free training to become an APPRISE telecenter volunteer counselor and can become certified by the state.
