–        During the month of August, the Philipsburg State Police investigated 26 accidents. Of these accidents, police said the main causes were driving too fast for the road conditions and inattentive driving. They reminded motorists to remain in a safe following distance behind the vehicle ahead of them. They indicated that distractions, such as cellular phones, should not be used while they’re operating a vehicle. If a phone call or text message must be received, they said the safest action for the motorist is to pull off the roadway. Police said all vehicle occupants must wear a seatbelt while a vehicle is in operation under state law.
