Police Comment on Locating Hyde Boy

HYDE – The search for a missing Hyde boy ended shortly after noon on Wednesday.

Sgt. Mark Brooks of the Lawrence Township Police Department held a quick debriefing with the media shortly after the announcement came over the scanner. Brooks said indications came that the 15-year-old boy was found between Curwensville and Grampian. He said a tip came in regarding the boy’s location after a citizen saw a news report concerning the boy.

“We’re thankful that person relayed that information,” said Brooks.

He added that the boy needed to be checked and cleared medically before being reunited with his parents.

“We believe, tentatively, that he’s safe and sound.”

He stated that preliminarily, that stress, among other things, led to the boy running away. He also said that if the information is accurate, the boy planned his departure.

Brooks said that a lot of little information was collected that helped lead to where he went.

“For his own personal safety, he needed to be found,” added Brooks. “We’re really appreciative of the support we’ve had.”

Chief Deputy Sheriff Rob Snyder said the following agencies assisted with the search: all Lawrence Township Fire stations; Station 1 River Rescue; Elkland Search and Rescue from St. Marys; Clearfield Emergency Medical Services; Heaven Scent and Track and Trail (both provided K-9 support); Curwensville Fire Department; the LTPD; Clearfield Borough Police Department; Clearfield County Sheriff’s Department; Pennsylvania State Police – Aviation Unit – Montoursville; and RJ Corman.
