PHILIPSBURG – The Philipsburg Kiwanis Club will host an informational meeting on Aug. 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the Moshannon Valley YMCA.  The purpose of the meeting is to gather interest and provide information about a new leadership and community service opportunity for high school age students in the Philipsburg-Osceola, West Branch, and Moshannon Valley areas.

Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership. The vision of Key Club is to develop competent, capable, and caring leaders through the vehicle of service. The core values of Key Club International are leadership, character building, caring and inclusiveness. Like Kiwanis, the Key Club focus is on helping kids both in our communities and around the world. It is a great opportunity for community service and personal growth.

In the past the Philipsburg Kiwanis Club has sponsored a Key Club at Philipsburg-Osceola High School. “We thought the best way to help the Key Club grow and prosper locally was to include students from other local school districts” said Matt Foster, President of the Philipsburg Kiwanis Club. “Key Club builds lasting friendships and memories and at the same time creates the leaders of tomorrow. The more youth we can get involved in Key Club, the better all of our communities can be” he said.

Students in grades 9-12 from Moshannon Valley, West Branch, Philipsburg-Osceola and cyber and home schooled students are encouraged to attend and find out more about Key Club!
