DUBOIS – The following information is an update for PennDOT’s Hospital Avenue/Dixon Avenue realignment project in DuBois for the week of Aug. 16. All work is weather dependent.
A new traffic pattern will be implemented on South Main Street. The traffic on South Main Street will change on Aug. 16. The lanes will shift to accommodate construction of one lane of South Main Street. The contractor will be excavating and removing a portion of the existing pavement on South Main Street to prepare for new pavement between Grove Avenue and Dixon Avenue. The contractor will be installing a waterline on South Main Street between Grove Avenue and Dixon Avenue. Grove Avenue will continue to be closed between South Main Street and Prospect Street. All motorists are to follow the signed detour route. This closure will remain in effect until further notice. Prospect Street will continue to be closed between Hospital Avenue and Grove Avenue. All motorists are to follow the signed detour route.

Prospect Street between Hospital Avenue and Mundorf Avenue will continue to be closed. Miller Avenue between South Main Street and Prospect Street will also continue to be closed. All motorists are to follow the signed detour route.

The contractor will be installing curbs throughout the project. Traffic will not be affected by the curbing installation. Motorists are advised to watch for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the entire work zone. The overall project will re-align Hospital Avenue with Dixon Avenue. Work includes roadway widening, new traffic signals, and improved access to DRMC.
The job is scheduled to run through late November of this year.
